37 Years ago when...
Hemi Daytona Superbird. A 1:64 diecast replica + a nickel.
Any Nascar fans out there?
This car was raced by Pete Hamilton in the 1970 Nascar circuit.
Ford, Chevrolet complained because the car had a revolutonary new cylinder head / engine design for 1970.The "HEMI" made so much power that no one could compete.Chrysler said "whatever" and dropped out of Nascar racing in #1 position and... did not return to racing for 30 years.
In recent 2006- 2007 Nascar events Dodge repeatedly has 7 out of 10 cars in top ten qualifing positions. Who is complaining now?...AGAIN.
The Dodge brothers were 2 smart guys.Have a great day Ya'll. :D
With regards,
Rick

It just isn't the same being sponsored by a Cell Telephone provider. . .
King Richard retired . . .
The wimps use restrictor plates . . .
Sigh.
I think I've got a photo of one of these 'birds' tucked away somewhere. I did a layout of a Super Bee a few years ago, and these Daytona specials are a favorite in one of the car show circuits I frequent.

Re: 37 Years ago when...
I lost interest when Davey Allison died, I used to go to both races in Atlanta every year. I met every driver there was. But my ex has got all of the negs. It's just to popular now and all of the new drivers, I just never watch it any more.

Re: 37 Years ago when...
I use to watch the races a few years ago. Well, I would watch the begining, then wake up for the last few laps. :) I haven't been following it for about the last 5 years. You should do a search on the forums, Larry (Old Timer) has posted some old school racing pics in the past.
