    Who's Voted?

Who's sent Brian their choices? I haven't. But I will start looking into it today. The ViewFinder Awards are an important way for us to honor and archive the best content and contributors on PhotographyREVIEW.com. So I hope everyone participates. It's also a great way to discover cool stuff that you missed. Llast year I was amazed at the awesome photos I dug up the gallery that I hadn't seen.

    Re: The 2008 ViewFinder Awards!!

I did, but just recently. I did pass on a couple of the picture votes because searching thru the gallery for the last year's worth of images brought over 1,000 pages! I wasn't sure how to get around that so I just combed the threads in the forums I frequent.

I think I'm going to keep notes throught the year so it'll be easy to vote next year - I'll have all of my choices ready! Anybody else have a better way to do it?

    Re: The 2008 ViewFinder Awards!!

I found it to be a major undertaking last year trying to find those really great photos. So to make things easier for this year, I started going through the new gallery images about once a week, and adding the ones I liked to "My Favorites" in the gallery. It worked great for a while, but then I missed a few weeks, and that turned into a few months... so I'm right back to where I was last year.

If you keep up with it on a regular basis, it would make finding those lost photos a lot easier.

    Re: The 2008 ViewFinder Awards!!

I used my favorites in the gallery to choose the images that got my vote. I check the gallery daily and add to my favorites each day that way you only have 3 or 4 pages to go through each day. I ended up with about 50 pages to go through, still a lot but not impossible. There is one inherent problem with this method however, NOT EVERONE allows their images to post to the gallery. I did back up my choices by going to the Weekly Feature photos. But I think I ended up going with my gallery choices in most cases they were both places.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Re: The 2008 ViewFinder Awards!!

I sent my picks to Brian after much deliberation earlier.

Another way to 'sort' is to search for all of your own posts in a particular forum or gallery and in the case of the Photo Gallery you will get a thumbnail of each image by the start of your comments.

I just bookmark in a separate folder images that really stand out as the year progresses.

Don't forget to look at the Blogs!

I am going to do a blog entry again this year about my selections once the voting is closed!

Go Brian! After all, he has potentially taken on a lot of work.

    Favorites Gallery

Ok, I went through all the photos from last year with a rating of ten and added the ones I like best to my Favorites Gallery. I remember doing the same thing last year and being really pleased and surprised by what I found. There's even more good stuff this year. While I was looking I also left a lot of comments and included links to this thread

I think it would be useful for us to share our Favorites galleries. I'm gonna look at DRG's since he said he was using his like I have been. Seeing other people's favorites will help me make my choices.

We call them the 2008 (Or what ever year it maybe) Awards, but the posts and photographs must be from the preceding year, in this case from 2007.

    Make sense?
These are the last few days to send me your submissions!
I'll be taking them until Sunday 3 Februrary.
Thanks to those who have sent them.

My Favorite's Gallery got edited while I was making selections so I restored a couple. There is a blog entry

    ViewFinder 2008 Finalists

with several more of my top choices. I will disclose all my choices after the voting.

These are just to point out a few photos that at least are worth viewing again or for the first time as they may have gotten buried in the gallery.
