    2008 Resolutions?
I tried to find a thread for 2007, but I think we must have skipped that year. Found 2005 and 2006 though...

SO...Do you make photography resolutions? I'm going to print mine out this year and hang them above my desk, once I finish painting the office and set up a desk.

    here's mine.

    1. Finish painting the office.
    2. Set up a desk.

I'm hoping to have these done within the first two weeks of January as I have a big project towards the end of it.

I've got some others...let me think....

    LOL, nice...

    Mine are
    1. Get out and shoot more.
    2. Finally decide on a new lens and buy just one.
    3. Listen to my 2-channel more.
    4. Set up the spare 2-channel in the spare bedroom.
    5. Read more.

    1. Start running my business like a business. I'm terrrible at that side of things.
    2. Work much harder to make money doing this. I mean real money. I'm too good at this to be poor... :( 3. Find a SUGAR MAMA, mainly so I won't have to be concerned with numbers 1 and 2...:D

I did keep my daffodil shot resolution last year but they didn't turn out well.

My photo resolution this year is to do more portraits and shoot more in general.

    I hate making these.

1)Stop being so lazy and get up in the mornings to capture the sunrise, instead of just thinking about it.
    2)Lose weight.

    3) Save enough for the 400mm VR
    4) keep my room cleaner

Yep. I sure do have one.

In Oct. I got hit hard on the sidelines of a football game I was shooting. Broke my leg. I'm still in PT and just getting moblie again. I packed on a bunch of weight. Guess what mine is?

    The diet starts on 1-2.

My other resolution which is every year is to step out of my comfort zone and learn and do more with photography. I already have a lot of things set up to make this one happen.

Last photographic resolution I made was in 2006 - to gain my Licentiate with the Royal Photographic Society within 20 months .. I did it in 15. This year my resolution is to write (and photograph) a booklet or series of articles on the dark art of composition. This is an idea I have had bubbling for some time - the idea is to do something without just rehashing the old "look for the thirds" kind of approach, but to articulate an entirely different way of approaching it. It may never see the light of day, but I am determined to try, not least because it will help me articulate what I do instinctively.

    Cheers

I hope PR members get a discount on the book. Put me on this list for a copy.

Last years goal was to get into the Local Gallery here in Rome for local artist. I have done that and now I want to try and find more Galleries to get into and get up enough material for doing a Arts and Craft show in October.

Not that you'll need it, but it is quite a formidable challenge.

    Then in June:
    6) Learn the secrets of excellent post-processing
    7) buy a new camera body/lens
    8) get a puppy
    9) train that puppy!
    10) Take a French language class

Great thread Adina! It got me to more seriously think about resolutions.

I noticed that the majority of posters so far have included setting aside more time for photography - in one way or another.

Some of my resolutions - need more time to add to the list

**Add Photography Time to my weekly schedule
**Read more books - in general
**stick to my schedule as much as possible
    **keep the resolutions:idea:

and I thought I was the biggest thread killer!

I don't do yearly resolutions, my daily resolution is to make the most of the day that I am able. with this in mind the larger resolutions seem to look after themselves. Also I guess since i am getting married at the end of february my life will be in a state of upheaval for a while in a good way though :)

Yikes... that's dedication. I got hit hard on the sidelines once, didn't break anything but my knee still pops every time I move it after I've been in one position for too long, and it bothers me on long walks. I can't imagine if I'd broken my leg :(

I still can't believe it happened.

The night it happened I shot the rest of the second quarter after the hit, sat during halftime and walked again during the third quarter trying to shoot. Then I got stuck because I couldn't put pressure on my leg any more and had to be drug off the field. I also had a slight concussion and was in shock so it took awhile for me to come to terms that I was serverly injured. I'm stubborn.

Hmm... 800x600 is way to cramped... 1024x768 is better, but still not too great.

    Now 1680x1050? Those are pixels!

    But in all seriousness.

    1. Get a job. (Pretty much guaranteed to happen)
    2. Use that job to buy an XTi
    3. Go to an arcade and laugh at the DDR players.
    4. Have an Image of the Week somewhere on here.
    5. Use my 50mm a lot. And I mean a lot.

Was testing the 60" white umbrellas today and decided to go for the before shot. at 220. We'll see what happens in a few months. Was shooting with a remote and trying to hit a mark, so I lost my fingers. Background will look better with my other studio strobes into it instead of a pair of SB 800's into 42" umbrellas. Key was camera right, high at f/8, background was f/10, should be 11 or so. Fill was at f/4.5 at camera position on a boom.

I remember this thread for 2007, but its probably buried under a ton of other posts. That's probably a good thing - I don't remember a single one of my resolutions, but I probably didn't do too well on them.

For 2008, I would like to do the following:

    1. Get back to photographing sports.
    2. Get more comfortable working with people as subjects.
    3. Dedicate more time to photography.
    4. Get back to blogging.
    5. Try weddings once more to see if I like it. I have a big one in August.
    6. Finally start this up as a business.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?
I looked for a 2007 resolutions, but all I could find was the 2006 that I bumped up in 2007...I wonder if we posted them there...

Here's mine, in addition to that painting and desk thing.

    1. Cut my latte consumption in half. I've started making coffee at home, but thru force of habit, I still buy a latte just about every day. Sometimes I don't even want one. Cutting that in half will save me quite a bit of money, money which usually comes out of my business checking account.

    2. Confine work to "work hours". Sometimes I get going, and all of a sudden it's 7 pm and no one has had any dinner. Fine for me, as I've been drinking lattes all day, not so fine for little kids.

    3. By June, I will be in the position to take on space. Whether or not I shoot there, I haven't decided if I want to go that route, but viewing and picking up orders, especially in Nov/Dec, would be so much easier on us, and save so much time. Plus, we've got photography stuff busting out everywhere at the house. It's getting a little annoying.

    4. Less work, more money. Or equal work, more money, I'm not picky.

    5. I'd like to actually cook more. It's fun and I enjoy it. And the girls love when we all sit down together. I just need to do it more.
