Hmm... 800x600 is way to cramped... 1024x768 is better, but still not too great.

    Now 1680x1050? Those are pixels!

    But in all seriousness.

Was testing the 60" white umbrellas today and decided to go for the before shot. at 220. We'll see what happens in a few months. Was shooting with a remote and trying to hit a mark, so I lost my fingers. Background will look better with my other studio strobes into it instead of a pair of SB 800's into 42" umbrellas. Key was camera right, high at f/8, background was f/10, should be 11 or so. Fill was at f/4.5 at camera position on a boom.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

I remember this thread for 2007, but its probably buried under a ton of other posts. That's probably a good thing - I don't remember a single one of my resolutions, but I probably didn't do too well on them.

For 2008, I would like to do the following:

    1. Get back to photographing sports.
    2. Get more comfortable working with people as subjects.
    3. Dedicate more time to photography.
    4. Get back to blogging.
    5. Try weddings once more to see if I like it. I have a big one in August.
    6. Finally start this up as a business.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

I looked for a 2007 resolutions, but all I could find was the 2006 that I bumped up in 2007...I wonder if we posted them there...

Here's mine, in addition to that painting and desk thing.

    1. Cut my latte consumption in half. I've started making coffee at home, but thru force of habit, I still buy a latte just about every day. Sometimes I don't even want one. Cutting that in half will save me quite a bit of money, money which usually comes out of my business checking account.

    2. Confine work to "work hours". Sometimes I get going, and all of a sudden it's 7 pm and no one has had any dinner. Fine for me, as I've been drinking lattes all day, not so fine for little kids.

    3. By June, I will be in the position to take on space. Whether or not I shoot there, I haven't decided if I want to go that route, but viewing and picking up orders, especially in Nov/Dec, would be so much easier on us, and save so much time. Plus, we've got photography stuff busting out everywhere at the house. It's getting a little annoying.

    4. Less work, more money. Or equal work, more money, I'm not picky.

    5. I'd like to actually cook more. It's fun and I enjoy it. And the girls love when we all sit down together. I just need to do it more.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

Hmm! Since I tend to break rules, I don't make them, because if I made them I'd have to break them so I don't make them so no new year resolutions from me because I'd have to break them.

That is if I could remember them - now what was I talking about?

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

Office is painted and desk is 90% assembled. I didn't buy cubby thing for on top, thinking I would just want the big open space, but I think I will need to go back and get it.

Dh just needs to put the trim back on and then I can paint that and it's completely done.

    2 down, 5 to go.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

Adina, you need to get yourself one of these Bialetti Stovetop coffee makers:

    http://shop.bialetticafe.com/Bialett...FQUalgodVzvSWg

They turn ordinary coffee into espresso. Really works! Make your own latte at home and it's easy too.

I have one and I love it. You can get them at Alterra or I've seen them at Stone Creek too, probably a lot of other stores and coffee shops carry them, for about the price of three lattes. Get a small one, unless you're making espresso for the whole family. I've also seen the pink Moka Dama (http://shop.bialetticafe.com/Bialett...etti-Moka-Dama) at TJ Maxx.

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

    Hey! How's everyone doing?

I still have no trim, and the ceiling isn't painted yet, but the desk is together. Latte consumption is down, getting better at working during "work hours" and not just whenever, and sometimes we eat dinner! Well, okay, before we went thru two months of sick, we were eating dinner, then we just grazed for a while, and now I'm back to trying to cook.

Space in June is still a potential, depending on school, will know for sure by the end of April....

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

Hmmmm......this is quite a surprise. I was almost afraid to go back and look to see what I posted. :blush2:

    Here is it:
**Add Photography Time to my weekly schedule
**Read more books - in general
**stick to my schedule as much as possible
    **keep the resolutions

Photography - fell through the cracks. However, there is HOPE! I just took my XTi out of the closet last week, bought a new lens......and now to put it in the schedule.

Books - yes, I've been reading more books. Need to do more.

Schedule - I've improved, but very little.

Keep the Resolutions - could do better.

In the meantime I made a few more.....

**Ride my bike more often this year - it's about time to get it out

**Stay on diet - not a weight issue, but serious for me

**Get outdoors often - enjoy nature (bring the camera of course)

    Thanks for the reminder Adina.

    Liz

    Re: 2008 Resolutions?

One of my resolutions is to get organized, but surprisingly that doesn't have to do with photography because one of the only things that is organized my life are my photos! Thanks Photoshop Elements!

Not really resolutions, but before the end of the year I'd like to take some photos in RAW and play around with them. Also I'd like to buy a macro lens and practice some macro photography. Little things, but I always try to do too much. So if I just do these two things I'll be happy.
