1.5 Million Ton Metal Damper
Hi All,
This is my first post in Viewfinder. I visited Taipei in August and spent a few hours in Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world. The 89th floor of 101 (the locals use it for the building) is open to the public and I did not miss the chance to be there. The building uses a 1.5 million ton metal ball to reduce the vibration of it when it is blown by wind. The technique is quite common amount high-rises. The interesting point is that the damper can be seen on that floor. I am attaching the damper photo. If you are interested in architecture, you must visit the place.

Hi Rick,
Thanks for commenting on this old post. I am glad that you like the photo. By the way, a German publisher used this photo in their publication in 2006.
