Polaris 1 Flash Meter & Studio Lightings

    Hi All,

Was browsing the net and i chanced upon this forum.
I've got a few questions regarding studio photography. (i'm getting into it and hope to set up a decent mini one at home)

    3 x 120W/S lights Rated at GN32
    180mm stands x 3
    2 softbox
    1 40" white/black umbrella
    snoot

    1. Are these lights enough for a home studio? (taking people portraitures and b/w studio)
would substituting one 120W lights with a 300W be a better choice?

    2. Also how good is the polaris 1 as a flash meter. I need one to play around with lights at home right? Can the polaris 1 be used as a light meter (outdoors shoots)

    Thanks all.

    Welcome, DTan...

Sorry you haven't gotten any responses yet. A lot of folks post here about specific lighting equipment, and sometimes no one is familiar enough with it to post a comment...

I think you'd be better off with a little more power from your lights. Three 120s will throw out a decent amount of light, but having at least one with more punch will make things a lot easier for you. Yeah, a 300W would be better...

I'm not familiar with the Polaris meters, but the two models I found on the web are both ambient/flash meters...
