    Small Flash Portraiture
After the post about the Strobist blog (which I've been a member/follower of since nearly the beginning) I thought I would post some shots I did for one of the local HS basketball teams last Saturday. These were done with small hotshoe flashes, 2 Sunpak 383s on lightstands shot through white umbrellas at 1/2 power on camera right and left with a Quantaray 370 behind the subjects bare with a 3/4 CTO gel for a backlight. All were fired with 16 channel ebay wireless triggers.

Nice job on the images. I saw those on strobist just recently I believe. I recently did the same for our local basketball media day. I just went for one SB800 bounced into a 45 inch photogenic eclipse umbrella. I love being able to travel light. Beats dragging out the Bees all the time.

For me, since I also have a 'day' job, the small flashes just fit the way I work. The majority of what I do is on location and it's nice to grab a couple of small bags and go.

I think you did an awesome job on lighting but wish you hadn't cropped so close to the sides.

I've got to get my flash fixed and rejoin strobist!

The internet is a small world. Yesterday I was doing some searches on flickr for and your team photo showed up and now I log on to photographyreview and there they are again :)

    Nice shots by the way.
