PLEASE provide feedback on which light kit to purchase

I posted below about setting up my studio and unfortunately have not received any responses.:cryin: I have zeroed in on two lighting kits ...

    This one:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...specifications

    and this one:
    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...0653688&is=USE

Can someone provide some thoughts on which you think would be the best deal, and why? Or neither? Something else? Speak to me!! Thanks!

    Hey Nancy,

Sorry you have not received any help here yet.
Both of the links you posted are to B&H home page and not to any specific light kit they are selling.
what type of studio are you looking to set up? how large a space do you have and what subjects will you be shooting mostly?
    Hope we can help.

Re: PLEASE provide feedback on which light kit to purchase

I sent those same links to a friend and discovered they didn't go where I wanted them to go ... Sorry about that.

I ended up getting a Manfrotto skytrack system to hang 3 lights, and the lights are Novatron 600 w/s (2 of those) and Impact 300 w/s (one back light, one hair light). I will be a bit handicapped by an 8 foot ceiling but would have the same issues whether I was pushing lights up on a stand or hanging them down from the ceiling. I am now in the market for good muslin backdrops ... anyone got any ideas? I'm going to try and sponge paint some, as described on some DIY sites.

I have MUCH to learn, both pre and post production. I'll probably be hanging out on this site more often. Thanks.

    Nancy,
I've shot with both types of lights mentioned and both do a pretty good job. The impacts are better lights but the extra power on the Novatrons will come in handy. If you are looking for decent quality at low cost try here: http://www.amvona.com/shop?page=shop...category_id=27 (a lot of what Amvona sells is kinda junky but I've actually seen and touched these backgrounds and they are nice quality.)

Hey There, glad to see you got off to a good start. Amvona is pretty cool as Jet suggested. You might want to take a look at Backdropoutlet as well
    http://www.backdropoutlet.com/

They have a huge variety of various painted and solid backgrounds of different materials.
their prices are pretty reasonable as well.

Also, they have costumes, props, and various accessories that may give you ideas.
Let us know how it comes along.
