How do I accomplish this lighting?

This is somewhat a cross post from a thread I started in viewfinder.

Basically the idea of it is I'd like to make my own photobooth similar to the one at Red Cheese

I'm trying to work through some of the logistics of it so I figured I would come on over here to see if you all had some ideas on how to light the inside of it. My original idea of using a flash might not actually be the best way to go.

I've been studying some of the sample photos they show on their site but I'm not lighting expert and figure someone here might be able to pin it down.

I found a few that give some hints, via reflections in glasses, eyes, bottles etc.









Looking at them myself I was thinking maybe a small flourscent light on either side of the camera? Or something along those lines? Any guesses?

Looks a bit like a circular lighting doesn't it, especially in the pupil of the first photo and from the last photo seems to be constantly on as well, so you are probably on the right track.

Actually, the curve would be from his eye I think. Add to that the appearance in the last picture that the lights are on full-time and it may be simply two florescent tubes?

I reckon it's a fluorescent tube floor to ceiling each side.

Thanks guys. The more I look at it as well it looks just two 5 foot flourscents bulbs like you said. I have access to some flourescent lighting so I think I could just cut holes on either side of the camera, mount the lights in there and have a piece of plexiglass covering both to protect them.

I found the proof!



I think I'm gonna make mine a bit smaller than I had planned. Seeing as how this one seems quite a bit smaller than what I thought it would be.
