Heavy duty spring clips might help. $1.99 each at most hardware stores. If it is more complicated than that, post a picture of the problem.

    Depends...

Janie, a cored paper backdrop (like paper towels - tube in the middle) slides over the cross bar. A non-cored paper bd (solid in the middle) needs special end caps that can attach to the stand poles. Sheet paper has to be clamped or taped to the cross bar. And a fabric bd is usually drapped over the cross bar and either taped in the back or clamped on the sides (or both)...

Any way you look at it, it's a bit of a pain, but that's the price we pay to get those cool bg's...

Yes, it's just the stiff muslin type fabric in pure white. So just drape it over and tape it, eh? Maybe i'll pick up some more gaffers tape. I put that on the bottom of shoes when models are standing on it with shoes on anyway.

Orange a-clamps that you can find at any hardware store hold up just about anything. I think I get the 2 inch size, and it fits the crossbars perfectly. Get a bunch, they work great in all sorts of situations.

I second that motion--- great to have small ones availableto --- to clip clothing drape fabrics etc....

Make a rod pocket in the top of the muslin to slid the rod into, works for me. Steve's suggestions like the others are solutions as well.

manacsa, sewing isn't hard, neither is knitting, tapestries, hooking, beading and a lot of other things in life. Just a matter of practise. A bit like Photography really.

    Janie,

Forgot to mention the biggest reason I love those clamps so much. I use them to stretch the muslin over the BG stand, effectively eliminating all wrinkles. Total amount of work is three minutes or so and there's no need for dealing with a steamer. Of course, if you want a bunched BG then this doesn't help.

Ahhh, kill 2 birds with one stone - multi-tasking - I like that!
I went to the hardware store to find some clamps today, but couldn't find the right size. I'll have to hit up lowes or home depot!

Well, the alligator clips wouldn't fit properly but using the kiss theory, I just put the backdrop over the pole and put a paperclip on each side to hold it and that did the trick! lol Don't know why I didn't think of that before!

I got my orange A clamps at Lowes.. beyond the big ones, I've got a whole bag of little ones. They can be real life savers when you need to clip someones tie or hold a twig out of a shot...

I third the motion. I've been using clamps I bought at Home Depot for cheap, they work just fine!
