Light Kits.

I really really REALLY lust after some studio lights.

On ebay they sell complete "light kits".... let me find the link.

Do you think these are sufficient lights? A good deal? Enough for a beginner like me to play around with??

And what about the backgrounds?? Paper??

Any advice appreciated. Like I said - I would just like to be able to take posed shots indoors.... and right now I can't. I HATE FLASH.

Personally I'm a monolight kinda guy. With this kit, what I would use everything but the actual lights as I'm not a hotlight fan. I would break everything down in this package and price it out individually and see if your saving money or not.

I too like mono lights. I bought a hot light system from Adorama and tried to do a studio head shot session. The lights do get very hot and heat up the room and your subject. It's hard on makeup. I also had to shoot at a big f2 aperture and a lot of the shots were blurred from movement. I sold the setup on eBay and got White lightning strobes and haven't looked back. This is just my experience and at the time probably a lot of my inexperience too. There are some site's you can find on the web that compare the two. They will probably give a better explaination of the pro's and con's than me. I do know about light lust. It's an expensive addiction.

Can you explain to me the difference between hot lights, mono lights and strobe lights ? English is not my native language.
The hot lights are lights that give a continuous ray of light, and the others are some kind of flashes.
Am I correct ?
