    Michigan Nascar Race

I know these are late but I just got around to going through my vacation shots -

Here is how the track looked when we got there - they ran 10 laps undercaution but the spotters couldn't see them on the backstretch so they went back to pit road.

Montoya bringing out an early caution flag

    Changing tires and gettin gas

Stewart getting past Gordon - then Dale Jr.

Kurt Bush celebrating - ya he is in there somewhere -

Hamlins hauler heading back to North Carolina -

I'm not a big NASCAR fan, but it looks like you had a pretty good time. I'm sure you would have killed to have access to get a little closer. But interesting shots none the less.

Better late than never Ben...I forgot you went to the race! And it does look like you had a good time even though the weather didn't cooperate too well.

Daniel / JS - Thanks for taking the time to comment. Yes it would of been great to get closer to the action to get some better shots. For where we were and what I had, I was happy with the majority of the shots. Ya - I guess better late than never. We had just a blast at the race. First one for the wife and kid. Looking like I will be at the 1st night race in Phoenix this next season too.

    Re: Michigan Nascar Race

Some day I will get to indy - not sure if it will be for the brickyard or the indy 500 .... both races would be cool to see.

A close friend of mine moved to phoenix last year and been bugging us to get out there - so we will go see the race sat. night - see the diamondbacks on sunday ...

I was happy with the shots I got here - but man to get closer to the action would be just SWEET. Mid-race one of the media guys walked by and had his camera on his shoulder - Nikon with a HUGE lens - I almost ran down and bowed in front of him ..... gets the position and the moster lens ....

Well you can always check with Rueters or the AP and see if they need any shooters, that way you get up closer to the track but there is no guarantee you'll make any money.

Nice pics. I was at MIS for this one. This was my 1st NASCAR race as well. From the looks of your shots, you were in front of me by a few rows (maybe a lot of rows). I was at the very top of the Grand Stands, just back from you.

I agree, the weather was horrible for racing, but the race was great...

    Re: Michigan Nascar Race

we were over in turn 4 - just at the start of pit row - I should of went higher - could of sat pretty much wherever you wanted to that race. Most of the shots were of them coming out of turn 3 and into turn 4. Otherwise I had the fence in my way.

The weather started out bad but by the end of the race the sun was out and was actually warm. It was the 2 rain outs that sucked... Now if the race gets rained out in Phoenix ..... then something is wrong...
