Some BB minus the tornado
Well, I got to shoot the JV and Varsity games tonight without any unplanned weather issues. :p The gym at North HS got pretty significant damage from the tornado the other night, so they had to play a home game against cross county rival South HS at the South gym. North won both games in a couple of real barn burners. I counted at least 13 lead changes in the varsity game. Always a great show when these two meet!
Re: Some BB minus the tornado
I notice you were stationed within the lane area (extended) on the baseline. The Ohio High School Athletic Association expressly disallows shooting from there. You must be outside the lane area if on the baseline.
Re: Some BB minus the tornado
I don't think he was in OH on this shoot, and personally who gives a rats a$$ if the refs don't say anything, don't say anything back.
Now that I have that out of the way, Great shots. Go D50!!!, you always do a great job great color and clarity. I'm thinking about a flash, I'm really looking hard at the SB-800 but who knows when that will happen. Keep up the good work
Re: Some BB minus the tornado
Thanks Chris. I never use on-camera flash, these are all done with 2 Sunpak 383s fired with Elinchrom Skyport triggers and mounted on clamps. I place them about 15 rows up and just behind the corners of the court on each side aimed at the free throw line and 10' above the floor so that they cross light that end.
As for the location I shoot from, in these gyms they have about 20' of space at each end and bleachers located at both ends although they aren't extended out unless there's a very big crowd. Kentucky doesn't have any such rules and even at the state tournament I have end line/side line access with my press passes.

What a nasty post. Sorry to bother you. In no way did I say anything about him being in Ohio when the photos were taken. If I assumed anything it was that he was in Kentucky where he's located. I was merely pointing out that in Ohio shooting from that position is technically not allowed.
Re: Some BB minus the tornado
Those are really good shots. Nice work with D50 too.
Would you share the Exif info?
