From March 16-17, World Endurance Championship and American LeMans Series first event of the year. This was my second trip, and the comparison with the D50 and 80-200 I used last year and the D5000 with 70-300VR that I had this year showed me that my upgrades were worthwhile. Most of my shooting was close enough to be at the short end of the lens, around 100-120mm, but the VR seems to have helped tremendously in the panning operation. I had a lot less throw-aways than I did last year. Also the D5000 was much less noisy in the night shots than my D50 was.
All shots were center-weighted metering, shutter-priority (usually 1/250, sometimes 1/125) and auto-focus (except the night shots which were pre-focused manually and left alone.) There is a lot of "empty" space at the top and bottom of these, but I cropped for PC screens in a 4:3 aspect, because I like to use them for my screen saver at work!
It was hard to pick just a few to show here, so I hope these eight isn't going overboard. I shot over 1400, kept a bit over 500, so selecting down was hard! If interested I invite you to the Picasaweb album here.
