#1 and #2 are the best for me...
congratulation :D

I like #1 too and particularly #3, nice use of the shadow of the runner.

#4 is a good candidate for an essay on the day, but not so hot as a stand-alone image.
It lacks the context of the race that it really can only get from being included in a series form the day.

Nice to see a post from down under Brent. Love them all but the shadow runner is superb.

SW, you nailed it right on the head. This is for my photo practices class, where my subject is triathlon training and racing. We are doing a photo documentary. :)

I reckon #3 could do with a crop from the bottom, the action is all in the top half.
The angle of the runner puts the motion out of the frame in the top half.
I don't think the road in the lower half adds much, if there was something there like a distance mark sprayed on the road it would be very different, but that empty grey tarmac doesn't do anything for me
Maybe take 1/2 of the road (the bottom 1/4 image) out ?
