Mountain Bikers...
How do you guys pack your expensive gear when you take it on the trail with you? Do you guys have some kind of crash protection case that fits in your pack or do you just plan on not crashing, if that's possible?

When I go out riding, I just take my Canon S40 and put it in my Camelbak. I figure the bladder will provide some cushion if I decide to end up on the ground.
When I go out to shoot, I use a Lowepro Mini Trekker backpack to secure everything and just ride from spot to spot.

I have a padded lowepro bag that I fit my 10D in with a 17-4 f4L lens. then I fit that inside a Osprey Helios 26 daypack which sinches everything down tight real well. I recently did 3 loops around gooseberry mesa, the moab slickrock trail and the entire porcupine rim loop carrying everything the whole time. I wasn't holding back on all the drops either, although there was one super tech section at the end of porcupine rim that I would have tried had I not had my gear on me, but that was like 25 feet of walking so no big loss. I usually don't worry about it anymore unless I have a big lens in there like a 70-200 f2.8. It's all insured though so it should be all good in case I do crash.

Thanks.. I've been afraid to take may camera on a ride, but I want to take some shots of my friends riding some technical sections. I had my wife shoot some pics of me riding a little bit, but I drove up some fire roads and did a short hike to where I wanted to shoot some pics at.
