That was a blind shot Paul. Just held the camera down low with the wide angle under the basket and fired, that's where a tilt screen LCD would have been handy. Thanks for the look.

Yeah, I have trouble getting down there too.
Why won't Canon give in and put articulated screens on the 1D series?

Are you shooting in raw? I think shooting in raw has improved my ability to control my exposure in the camera and in post.

A few minor adjustment help, but don't correct everything. Seems more of a WB problem.

This didn't look to bad on the Mac at home but here at work not so good, so I guess I didn't help it much.

    Larry,

Great show! You caught some really good action. My favorites are #2, 4, and 6.

Thanks Bob. I'm headed to the OVC Tournament in Nashville that starts tomorrow. Hope to come home with a few good shots.

I am totally new to photography. I just recently bought a Sony a300 because my kids are in all kinds of activities, sports, band etc.! I have been shooting indoors for the winter sports and I am shooting on the sports settings. The brightness of the pics are great but the objects in the pics are blurry when in motion. I have yet to read the manual from cover to cover and would really like to know if I am on the wrong settings for taking pics of indoor basketball. I see your pictures look great! Any info would be greatly appreciated! I see I could really use a class on photograhy and this camera. Will have to schedule A.S.A.P !! Thanks!!

I avoid auto settings and shoot in manuel. For most sports a shutter speed of 1/500 is a minimum that I will shot at to avoid excessive motion blur. Now that we are moving into the outdoor sports season this should not be a problem. Now your concern should be your depth of field. Use a small number aperture to give a wider aperture setting and reduce the amount of DOF and avoid distracting objects or people in the background. You just have to keep shooting and experimenting to find what works for you. Try to avoid those auto settings and learn how your ISO, Shutter speed and aperture interact to give you the best results.

I'm the communications coordinator for a youth basketball club (volunteer). Responsible for a digital newsletter and hard copy posters , yearbooks. I am presently on a tight budget using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT / 350D with Canon EF 50mm f1.8 II Lens. I am thinking of an upgrade to a CANON REBEL T2I W/18-55 EF-S IS and same lens as the 350D. Is it worth the upgrade or do I ave to jump up alot to make it worth my while?

Since I'm a Nikon shooter it would be hard for me to answer your question. I would suggest you post hte question in the Canon forum and see what responsed you get.
