    Mallala Historic Racing
Today I attended Mallala today for the Easter Historic race meeting. Its nothing at all like the historics you probably get over there, but its a nice relaxed meeting.
    Just a few quick images (first 5 shot with a loaner 40D & Sigma 70-200 f2.8):

Mallala Raceway in Adelaide, South Australia

What it that first car? Looks a bit like a Matra.

And no, I can't tell which camera is which.

The first car is a local built Elfin (when I say local, I mean built in Adelaide). It has quite a bit of history, as it ended up being owned by one of the chiefs from Porsche in Germany. But a local has bought it & its returned home.

Also, sorry about the bright highlights & shadows. They had closed off the back part of the circuit for the plebs, so we had to deal with the sun in the complete wrong spot all day

nup, other way around!! (4 =F4, the beercan or minolta 70-210 F4).

I think it goes to prove that it all comes down to how the tool is used, not what the tool is (well, to a degree anyway)

I was going by the colour saturation - the other one didn't look as saturated, particularly in the reds, as the other 40D images.

I was trying to ignore the lack of sharpness in the tyres of the lead car in the last photo, because that could just be down to panning or the resizing.

On a single shot, it is down to how you use the camera.
And if you're on automatic, how the camera manages the exposure.
Just a little bit of reflection of something can throw the exposure enough to make that difference.

I'd be interested to see the exif for those two images, shutter/aperture/iso for comparison.
My guess is the Canon overexposed by slowing the shutter ?
Unless you put them both in manual mode with the same settings :o

I love that silver car - an Aston Martin I think by the front emblem? Beautiful. Great photos!

Nice shots. Really like the Falcon, doing the off track slide.

Aston Martin is right, the AM DBR 2 registration is a hint :)

Yes, the Aston was one of my favourites on the day. Tis a shame he was taking it so easy, but hey, at least it was there:

& my feeble attempts in replicating the period:
