    Judo tournament
Although it was primarily a local tournament (at least it started as one if my memory serves me), there was a large team from one well-known Japan university (known for its Judo and the world champs it produced) and also Judokas from US. There was even one from Brazil this year and athletes from other parts of Canada.

Super capture on the action! Even managed to catch some great expressions. A little tighter crop on a couple of these would help in my opinion. Thanks for sharing AG.

Photo #2 is my favorite shot.

I agree with Larry about cropping. In fact, every one of these photos would have benefited from cropping. #3 and 4 would also have benefited from straightening.

It's somewhat difficult to make out details of the competitor in the dark blue uniform. An increase in exposure and/or lightening of shadows would have helped.

Great shots. Tighter would be better on a few of these. Especially #1. The last one is about perfect. Nice and tight. At the peak of action and you got both faces. This is so hard to do for this type of sport. That chick is getting arm locked like hell!!!

Well, two things contributed to that:

    1. the lens and camera body used in the process of photographing.
    2. post-processing after the photographs were taken.

The small sizes that they're being shown here in also help. Sharpness is a perception :)

I agree with zerodog. These are all great but I wish the throw photos were tighter. There's too much distracting incidental stuff around the competitors. I don't know how much you've cropped but if you haven't cropped much, I'd play around with them and see if you can tighten them up and make them stronger.

I also agree that the last photo is close to perfect. The framing is excellent and it really makes me *feel* the event. That you got the pain on the one girl's face really makes the photo, I think. I can feel the tension between the two of them so well. Very, very well done.
