A Huge Filthy Dump (Of Cyclocross Photos)

This weekend we had pretty much perfect cyclocross racing conditions here in Salt Lake City. It was cold and snowing, but the ground wasn't frozen. That meant plenty of mud and snow - awesome for cyclocross photos. It was filthy and miserable. And one of my best CX photo days, yet

The ladies go early so they got the snow.

And the pro men go last, so they got the mud. Here's what they looked like at the start - so fresh, hopeful and clean:

And here's what the 5th place finisher looked like near the end:

See that white thing dangling off the rider in front's chin in the photo below? That's a combo drool / snot-sickle. I have photos of him with it on at least three laps

I don't usually do this but I had to crop the hell out of this photo to get this. You can see the pass for second place about to happen and it was just too good not to crop for:

Nice, I love watching cyclocross and you are right that is perfect for cyclocross photos! I like the panning in a few shots and the snotsicle is a nice touch!
    What gear were you using?

Canon EOS 7D and EOS 70D. I had my 70-200mm f/2.8 on the 7D and the 17-55mm f/2.8 on the 70D. I mostly used the 7D because of the 70-200mm lens. Next week I'll swap them to confirm that the 70D's AF is exactly the same.
