That's so cool. Autocrossing is something I've always wanted to do..Car and Driver's One Lap of America is the other..

    Awesome!
Thanks for posting those. I've got a 6 cylinder Outback and even though it's not a WRX, I'd love to get it on an autocross course. I want to get it loose and find out what happens in a safe environment. And going fast is always fun.

Did you drive as well as take pictures? Oh yeah - thanks for posting photo details too. Those are always important for sports photos.

Unfortunately, I did not drive that event. Played photographer all day. Last month, I drove, and it rained... and I spun :D I'm happy so long as I'm not last in my class (Street Mod, Tire class) ;)

I would have to agree. I like the way you can see the brake rotor and caliper through the wheel so clearly.

Just wanted to throw another one into the mix.

Still trying to figure out how to keep it even more still (rested the camera on the steering wheel) since I don't think there's quite enough space to fit a tripod in there.

The needle needs to be crossing the 5 - 6 mark! (doesnt' the subaru have a 7 grand redline? If so, then the needle needs to be passing 6 on its way to 7 :)!!!)I can imagine the difficulty with this shot. You are trying to steady it on the steering wheel, but they vibrate too a little bit when the engine revs.

Exactly. Not sure how else to do it.

As for the placement of the needle, I was sitting in my apartment parking space making noise as it was, didn't need any more attention, hehehe. The exhaust note can get VERY bassy in a small confined space like that, so I wouldn't want to get in any trouble with the neighbors :D

you can make a really elaborate camera mount that sat on the ground next to the car and had an overhanging arm that reached into the window.....etc....

OT: Some time ago (about 8 years) I helped a friend of mine put an engine in his 69 nova, and we broke the cam in in the evening at his apartment complex on his 402 big block uncorked. that's one way to cause trouble with your neighbors!

    thanks for posting!!!!
its been a while since ive taken the bimmer out auto X'ing , aih how i miss the sound of squeeling tires, engines screaming, and cones being carved down to nothing as they get wedged under the car and go for a ride haha

1 and 4 being my favourite, amazing bg blur while keeping the subject in damn good focus

im sure the owners would love to get prints of these... or any subie owner for that matter

looks like i better get out to the next event up here and try out a few of my own

    keep em coming!

Played around in photoshop just a little bit to clone out an unsightly sign, and make it look a little more old fashioned.

    That's mah baby... :D
