#m Performance 400 at MIS ...anyone else going to be there?

I will be in Detroit this weekend at MIS for the NASCAR race (we're not going to make the busch race on sat)

I was just wondering if any of the PR folks are going to be there.....and if they'd like to meet up for a beer somewhere?

Looks like there going to be lots of time for drinking beer and very little time watching the race. Rain predicted for the next 3 - 4 days around here. 90% chance of rain today tomorrow and Tuesday all day each day. We're going to walk around the fan zone and enjoy our garage access and then head back home if it doesn't look too good by race time. Should save us some travel time as well as border crossing time

jaedon - we are in michigan for the race - we left sunday morning at 6am central time to get to the race on time only to drive in rain the whole day and see the mud pit when we got there. We stayed in lansing sunday night and as of right now it looks like we are staying another night since its still raining and the outlook doesn't look good today.

Our seats are in the 4th turn section 48 row 6 seats 26/27/28 - I will be the guy with the nikon and the long lens attached - can't miss me (wearing the #20 hat also!)

Re: #m Performance 400 at MIS ...anyone else going to be there?

    Have fun at the race....

I'd watch it but since NASCAR in all it's wisdom has decided that network TV isn't worth the $$ they are losing lots of fans, not everyone has cable or satellite TV. The cable ends 1/4 mile from my house and they say they won't run it here, it would cost $20,000 minimum which is BS, I could run it for $200 and I got too many trees for satellite so I don't watch unless I am there or it's on network TV.....wonder in NASCAR will ever figure out how many fans they are losing over having ESPN, EPN2 and TNT showing races...

I agree with ya JS - Sad to see such a growing sport be so greedy. Since ESPN took over, I think the coverage of the races has dropped so much. I don't watch it as much as I used to on tv.

sorry to say this but, until espn originally broadcast nascar, the networks didnt cover the sport much at all. espn's coverage helped to popularize the sport to the point that the networks took notice.and then the bidding war began!

UH???? I was watching NASCAR on the networks LOOOOOOOOONNNG before ESPN was thought of. But what really changed it was Richard Petty scored STP as a sponsor back in 72, and then the Cale Yatborough Bobby Allison crash and Petty win, the the Petty/Pearson crash at the finish, thats what brought NASCAR to where it is.... and Wide World of Sports...... and drivers were drivers.
The first time I saw NASCAR on TV was when Friday Hassler lost his life qualifying for Daytona...NETWORK TV.

Re: #m Performance 400 at MIS ...anyone else going to be there?

another boring day at the racetrack .... watching the dryers go around the track and not get anything done ...... maybe tomorrow ?????????????????

I could care less who broadcast it first - i would say that fox did the best at it ... ESPN coverage of the race just plain sucks ! Only thing ESPN does for nascar now is they give it more attention during sportscenter since they have so much $$ invested. Also they now bring us NASCAR NOW or today .. whatever its called.

    send it back to fox

dont really care for any of the so called racing talk shows.
going to bristol and hoping for nice weather. ive been thru enough frog stranglers
there and dont wish to deal with another. with the hurricane though who knows.
could get some residual weather from that.

Re: #m Performance 400 at MIS ...anyone else going to be there?

Well I ended up watching it from home today. It was a decent race and the stands looked really quiet. If I had known for sure the rain was going to hold off I would've been on the road at 3 am... migraine and all... to get there. Even right up until 30 min before the race there was rain on the radar. then 10 min before the start the radar cleared... damnit... I should've made the drive... oh well. Can't control mother nature.

WYATT - We were in turn 4 also.. section 108 row 32 seats 8 and 9 ... I guess they were decent seats... we only sat in them for about 15 min on Sunday before the rain started again just before 2pm. I have some GREAT shots of the track dryers though lol.
