    70-200mm f2.8 vs 200mm f2 for baseball

Tried out the two lenses with the D3, similar but not identical settings. 200mmf2 is the second one.

I'm thinking I like the first shot better.

Not just that, the background is less cluttered in #1.
    I'd like #2 sharpness with #1 background.

Are you asking about the background it's self or the difference in the blurred background?

I guess I'm crazy because I think #2 is sharper. I like the physical background better in #1, but REALLY like the blurred background affect in #2 best.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

    Re: 70-200mm f2.8 vs 200mm f2 for baseball

The 200mm f2 is amazing all you have to do is use this lens .

AF Speed sharpness , contrast , bokeh & vignetting is far superior .
    Since I bought the 200mm f2 I don't use the 70-200 .
    The 70 -200 is too soft at 2.8 on FX , from 5.6 - f8 is sharp as the 200 f/2 at the f2.5 .

Try to get a photo like this one with the 70-200 and f/2.8
    200 f/2 @ 2.5 , 100% crop .
    BTW Did I mention the 3D Look of the 200 f/2 ?

I'm starting to agree. The shots with the 200 are stunning. Love this one. Maybe it's my imagination but do you find the focus faster than the 70-200?
