1st HS Lax

HS Varsity Lax in NJ ... wow, this was not easy.
Sun was just above the trees. I could not seem to get as much of the faces as I'd like. Had a difficult time following the ball and catching the collisions and/or goals. Even the goals I caught, you could basically not see the ball.

I know that they are just the basic shots. :(
They originals look a bit sharper, I did not do a good job of "saving for web."

Did you get any with the ball leaving the net thingy...LOL...sorry I don't know the Lacrosse terminology.....

I know what you mean about the outside lighting....it a lot of ways it is GREAT....but I have found at the ball field, that on one side of the field, you have the sun, just going down behind the trees...facing you...then on the other you are in the shadows, with a lot of sun on the field....I am really practicing on moving and making adjustments as you go....I guess this is how you learn.....

ah, such a great sport to shoot. The best, in my opinion.

These are good stock shots, and a lot better than most people could do.

Lacrosse is really all about positioning. If you're positioned incorrectly, sometimes you'll get a good shot, but most of the keepers come from the people who are positioned correctly for the type of photo they are looking for. Try shooting from the endline if 1) your league allows it and 2) if you're brave enough to do it. You'll need about a 300mm to fill the frame with anyone rushing the goal.

And it also helps to know the sport, like any other kind of sports photography. The more familiar you are with the sport, the easier it is to tell when a player is going to drive for a goal or go for the big hit. Unfortunately, the best hits are often the ones that are hard to see coming.

Not to shabby, I can't really critique your positioning since I've never seen LaX, in fact I don't think I've ever seen one of those "net thingy's" Good job, the top picture is a little washed out I think that the silver bleachers you were shooting against didn't help you out any.
