Sony A33 discontinued, A35 to take its place.

    http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/03/s...-birthday-cak/

Whats up with this? Was it the SSS + movie mode overheating thing? Why not the A55?

What do you think this means for the price of an A33 say this summer/fall?

The guessing is rampant! They can't do much to upgrade the A33>35 or it will be better than the A55. And if they're 'fixing' some of the problems, then why no A57 or whatever? Some wonder if the A35 will be a lower model to sell in the near or sub $500 range. The thinking is that we will know soon??? - Terry

I would sure hope so. I've been considering possible upgrades for my future camera usage, being either an A77, or possibly, an A850 plus A33 (or 35?). If this were true that would work in my favor.

Can't say for sure though because we dont know how the A77 stacks up against its full frame brother.

Although I'm curious the specs of a sub $500 DSLT. Probably akin to something like a rebel XS.

I'm kinda curious as well. It's hard to keep track of all the rumors going on right now with those models. And now with probable delays across most of Sony's product lines due to factory and parts issues after the natural disasters in Japan, we may have to wait a bit longer to get the full picture, so to say...

In general, I would just hope for better heat management in the a33/a55 model refresh, and just great everything in the a77.. ;) I'm really curious what kind of IQ a 24mp APS-C sensor can produce.

It seems that the announcement for the A35 and the new NEX have been postponed indefinately. I think that it is going to be the end of the year before we get a good picture of what is going on. - TF

    WHA!?

That will be fine as long as we can find out about the A77.

Sony is sure taking their time.

I've been pondering getting the A33, body only. Right now its $550, I wonder if the price will be dropping to under $500. Might be the best way to augment my A700 outfit.

But, doesn't seem like a good time to buy, right before a huge announcement of Sony's.

Hey Guys! I was looking at all three models very carefully and comparing the features etc. Right now the A35 is a pre-order item on Sony's web site. Body only - $599. From what I can tell they increased the mega pixels on the A35 almost matching the A55. Also, the A35 has Tele-zoom High Speed Shooting (Standard: 28 shots; Fine: 21 shots) which niether the A55 or A33 have. I am checking out the reviews of the A35 now.... This may be on my short list. :-)
