Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Yes ... a great choice ... and you should be quite set! :D
Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Those close-ups are amazing! Impressive colors and sharpness, especially in two and three....
Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Nice, not only a sweet lens, but beautiful photos to go with it. Enjoy

Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Thanks, all. I'm really liking this lens. Every other lens I have taken out to the back yard for a hand-held trial has never resulted in keepers.
LightBright - Minimum focus is 1.5 meters, so they really aren't that close. The last three are seriously cropped.

...been away for a little while, but... Nice! Great photos... Nice pick-up too! You'll love that lens... Sure, it's a little bulky and not something you'll use all the time, but... When the time is right, it's THE lens...
Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Hi, I was very impressed with your photos; Is the HS lens a manual, or is it an autofocus ?
I have only just started with the minolta brand, hence the question! Thank you in advance.
Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Yes, it is auto focus. Here is a list of the A-mount (or alpha-mount as Sony calls it) Sony and Minolta lenses. - TF

Re: Minolta 200mm f/2.8 HS
Doesn't it make you wonder how many tens of thousands of Minolta lenses are just sitting quietly in all those anonymous closets, tucked neatly in camera bags ... waiting for new life on a SONY DSLR?
Alone, the Minolta 50mm f/1.7 was one of the most produced lenses ever made. Almost every Minolta AF SLR had one.

And now you can have an f/1.7, stabilized lens for $50. That alone is a compelling reason for a new buyer to pick a Sony body. - TF
