Just bought a used Maxxum 5D. Can't turn on LCD viewfinder.
I just bought a used Maxxum 5d to replace my old Dynax film camera. It did not come with a manual, but I have one on order. When I turn on the camera, the LCD screen does not come on. I can get the LCD to play back recorded images or show any of the menu items, but it doesn't work as a viewfinder. Is there a switch which turns this feature on? If not, did I get a broken camera?
Thanks

It does not work as a viewfinder, SLR technology has only in this past generation (or 2, in Olympus' case) been able to incorporate live view LCD viewfinders. If the metering data is not coming up on your LCD, try pressing the display button, if memory serves, bottom left button on the 5D. You can only see through the optical viewfinder, and honestly - this is a *much* better way to shoot anyways, true TTL* view. Maybe slightly less practical, but I will never go back to using LCD viewfinders.
*through the lens.

What shows up on the display (metering data, etc.) can be changed by hitting the 2nd button down on the left, under the "menu" button. It looks like IOI
