iPhoto importing problems

I just purchased a Sony a200. When attempting to import photos into iPhoto I receive a message saying the files cannot be imported. The folks at the Sony only store told me
to uninstall the software that came with the Sony, which I did, but the problem remains.

Also, I replaced my KonicaMinolta Dimage x20 with an x31 and I am unable to import
any movies shot on the x31 into iPhoto. Any clues?

P.S. Running OS10.4.11 and iPhoto version 7.1.3.

Is iphoto this little device that you plug on your ipod to download the pictures from your camera directly to your ipod? If so, I have one, used it with the A100, but when I had a 1mb card about 70% full it will take forever to download and a few times it crashed the ipod... I ended up going to a library and use the ipod as a hard drive.

Turns out it was a bad card - even though it was a Sony brand pro duo. Bummer,
lost over 350 photos of a once in a lifetime trip to Washington DC.
