Help! DCR-HC32 not reading tapes, nothing recording!!
I have an issue with my Sony DCR-HC32 camcorder. Most of the time, it will not recognize the tapes that I put into it, and when it does read it, nothing records to the tape, and nothing shows up in playback. I've tried using a plethora of different tapes and nothing is working. What could the problem be?

unfortunately problems with minidv camcorders like this are generally pretty serious, theres a ton of tiny fragile moving parts. Your best bet is to contact Sony and see if they can offer a repair, if its within the first year of ownership, or if you got a store warranty, you can take care of it that way. If you can offer more details perhaps there could be something else that could be done, but 9 times out of 10 this is manufacture repair only. For example, maybe there is a specific gear thats making a grinding noise, or perhaps the dv cassette isn't closing all the way on the cam, etc.
