    Cybershot w170
Hi all, first post - go easy.:D

I've just got the Sony w170. My issue is with setting the shutter speed.

Read the instructions back to front. It doesn't really spell it out.

I've come to the thinking that as a point and shoot camera you can't set the shutter settings per se, and you have to rely on the 'scene modes' ?

I'm wanting to be able to take pics of water falls etc where the water shows that ghostly blur you get when slowing the shutter speed, and the neon look on a night shot on a busy road, etc...

    Any help appreciated!

If you want to set the shutter speed or the apeture yourself you've got the wrong camera.
read the camera specs next time. You can with some point and shoots, but not this one.

check the specs on other models.

Some models that are capable currently within Sony's current line is the H series. I have the H50 and it offers some fantastic manual controls for shutter, aperture, etc.

The W170 is still a nice compact P&S! I carry around my W80 everywhere, and it has served quite well.
