There is also a similar-looking Vertical Grip by a company out of Taiwan. Runs about the same on eBay.

The differences in it: Instead of the post to stick up in the battery chamber, the Taiwan unit has a flat mount plate. With a quick swap of the mount plate, the same grip can be used on multiple makes of camera. Uses two wired connections - to the AC Adaptor and Remote Cord jacks on the camera - to connect the extra power (rechargeables or AA's) and a pair of shutter buttons on the front of the grip.
