100mm of goodness thread...

Another tribute thread concept.... For me, it's the 100mm f2.8 Macro RS lens...

Both shots hand held with a700....

2nd shot, not as well composed, but one of the few shots I have sitting online already.. Another cute little guy that was hanging in some old soggy cardboard by the trash...

I just posted this in the critique thread, I'm in love with that bokeh! The focus servos did me very well for this shot; as you can imagine shooting an ant in a field of grass right around 1:1 can be a focus chore. He (or she) was going much too fast for manual focus.

Good catch on the ant Anbesol, not easy conditions... I know what you mean on the focus servo, I sometimes feel bad for the camera when it's working so hard to keep something in focus at that range...

OT, I really like the second one... I really like how the "blown" highlights surrounding the center of the flower blend in and draw you to the center... Exposing to the right doesn't even begin to say what that histogram must look like.. :)

Wow clicker, that second shot is incredible! A very extreme but extremely well done combination of real and surreal. You got a terrific catch there. How did you do that, and what the heck kind of flower is that?

NoKnees, Anbesol - Thanks. I bought the flower in a bunch at the local grocery store and have no idea what it was. It was sort of a smaller tulip shape - deeper than it looks. The shot was taken with the flower set way forward in my light box so that the light shined through the petals. I then spot metered off the darker center. – TF
