upload problem

hi, can anyone tell me where i am going wrong. ? i can upload my photos in the photo gallery with no problem at all , but i cant do it as a new thread. it comes back saying that the photos are to big, needs to be 293kb not at any larger. ok thats fine but how on earth do i make my photos that size so i can put them on a new thread.. many thanks for any advise and help.. trace

What software do you have for editing your photos? You need to either compress the files more or make the image dimensions smaller. Or both. I use the Photoshop CS3 "Save For Web" option when I save photos for the Web. It shows me how big the final file size is going to be and lets me fine-tune the image quality/file size. If you don't have Photoshop, you must have some software that let's you save your photos as JPEGs. When you save, choosing a different amount of compression will change the file size. More compression will give you a smaller image file with lower image quality. Play with your images to find out the best compromise.

can anyone tell me the procedure for uploading my photo's i'm not having success tried several times .....JC.

If you're a PC user, then you can download the Microsoft Image Resizer PowerToy.
Right-click on an image and you can resize it to 800x600 from size menu.
Quick, simple, doesn't need Photoshop.
