Welcome thread...

How about a new Welcome thread. The current one is a mess and many post in the middle where they are never found again.

Better yet, how about just welcome posts - I hate long threads. Is there some technical reason that forum admins like single long threads?

Good idea, Terry. The reason there's one thread is that new members need to post five times before they can start their own thread. That's to make it more difficult for robot spammers. The Welcome thread gives new members somewhere to post. But I think having one per year is a good idea. And now is a great time to start a fresh one. Thanks for the suggestion :)

I know I'm as guilty as anybody but there has been a lot of new introductions latterly and no one has welcomed them aboard, I assume the role isn't delegated to just one member so perhaps in the interest of avoiding recent members thinking we are an unfriendly bunch perhaps more attention to the intro thread is required. Maybe a designated intro forum rather than a thread would help, its really cool when you join a forum to have members acknowledge your arrival Even a simple "welcome" comment will do wonders. Old Clicker seems to do more than his fair share of this so....
