    Soooo Sloooow!
Over the last few days getting on the site has been nightmare, its being so slow to open, il be able to get opening page come up but with a blank screen, sometimes for upto 5 minutes waiting!

I know others and myself have experienced this in the past and you have explained that it is the advertising that you have to have, is this the reason now? or am i the only one having this problem? my server says that there isnt any problems their end.

Im not moaning, promise! just getting frustrated not being able to get on site.:mad2:

I haven't noticed any problems. Every year during the Tour de France, the server gets pretty bogged down by the MTB site. That could be the reason for the slow down that you're noticing.

I'm sorry about the slow speed. Can you give me some more information? Is this on the forums only or are you having trouble in other parts of the site, like the reviews, Learn section, or the gallery? mjs1973 could be right regarding the Tour de France. We have two bicycle sites who's forums share the same servers as these forums. The volume of traffic on those sites could be slowing this site. I'm not noticing any problems right now. And I don't think the advertising should be a problem either. Any further detail that you can offer would be great.

Again, I apologize for the poor performance and thank you for letting us know. I don't like to hear that people are having trouble using the site.

Thanks for the quick reply, thats interesting re The Tour de France, but we have 3 computers in the house, 1 desktop, 2 laptops (both wireless, broadband) my sons computer with the livebox is running fine but the laptops are slow, mine being excessively slow, i have been onto my server Orange (wanadoo upto 2 weeks ago) and they say there is no problem with them, although their homepage and all others take upto 5 minutes to open??

I have been in touch with my computer engineer and he seems to think, beings its only my laptop that is slow it may be something to do with this computer, he is coming round tomorrow to check it out.

So, sorry to have questioned you first, hopefully its something to do with the wireless situation but i will let you know the outcome.
    Thanks.:blush2:

Please do let me know what you learn. I have had problems with the site using my laptop on wireless, too. I'm not sure why. But if you find out anything useful, I'd like to know. And don't worry about posting here. There are performance issues - always will be. Right now I am pushing hard to make improving site performance one of our top priorities. It's a very complicated situation with lots of variables though. Some problems can be very hard to solve - especially the ones that end up being on the user end instead of ours. But I will still try.

Thanks for the update. Good luck and please let me know the outcome.

Sorry Photo-John it has taken a while to get back.

I had the computer engineer round and he thoroughly checked all the computers out, the desktop computer with the livebox is running fine and upto speed. Mine (laptop/wireless) has days when its unbearably slow, he thinks its an ISP problem, sometimes very hot weather can cause signal faults, especially on wirless equipment, and we have had the last 3 weeks of very hot weather here.

Whether this is the cause or not i have now downloaded a software called "Onspeed" www.onspeed.com it increases speed for internet connection. It compresses the data you download in web pages and emails etc using unique compression technique. When tested on a standard dial-up from 30kb to over 300kb, on a standard 1mb broadband onspeed increased performance to 5mb.

It offers a 14 day money back guarantee (£24 for the year) and it has been installed for 3 days now and i have had a dramatic change in connection speed. If you have heard of this software and have any doubts please could you advise me?. Thank you.
