Re: Safari and this site..
This probably should be in Feedback, but I'm currently having page load problems on this site with WinXP and IE8. About 3/4 of the time only the banners and the heading load - not the thread. - TF
Re: Safari and this site..
Only about 14% of our users are on Safari so we don't do much testing for compatibility. However, I have been seeing problems with the forums for the past week with Firefox and IE. Can you pay attention and see if there's any kind of status indicator on your browser that says what the page is stalling on? If it's loading the header and top banner and nothing else, that means it's stalling on the skyscraper ad at the top of the right-hand column. It could be a problem with a specific ad or it could be our ad server. Any further detail you can give me would be useful. I'm going to keep a closer eye on it now.
Re: Safari and this site..
John,
Right now it is down to about 20% for me (WinXP, IE8). The only consistency is it shows the Top Banner and the PR with Tabs. No side ads, no thread and no bottom index for the sister sites.
The bottom left usually shows nothing, sometimes 'Done' and sometimes the 'waiting for.....showthread.php?t=number' - number changes.
I can look at the Show Source, but it means nothing to me.
Let me know if I can help.

Re: Safari and this site..
Update - They do eventually come up as much as two minutes later. I just looked at 5 failures and, when they did come up, each had a different top right ad. - TF
Re: Safari and this site..
Hey John,
Same basic issue here, it loads the header and top banners and then stalls. FF works flawlessly, Safari is fine at this time.
I'm currently seeing this: 4 errors occurred in opening this page, all of them link to this server:
http://creview.adbureau.net/jserver/...pageid=4988809 network connection lost
I just closed and re-opend Safari, it's fine now, but still passing error messages relating to that server. Still connection lost.
In Firefox everything loads smoothly, with the large add on the right loading last.

This server is still an issue Saturday (May 29) morning.

It could be that it's a geographically targeted ad that's causing the problem. That might explain why some people are having trouble and others aren't. But I don't want anyone to have trouble because of ads. They pay the bills, but if they keep you from the content they're sabotaging us in the process.

I'm currently having to reload about 25% of the threads I look at. I only get the top banner and the tabs. Is there something I can look at to give you more information? - TF
EDIT: WinXP with IE8. - TF

I'm not sure. You already said that you aren't getting anything useful in the status display (lower left). I'm testing on IE 7, IE 8 and FF and it's working pretty well for me. I do get pages that don't load - but nowhere near 20-25%.
Re: Safari and this site..
Sometimes it seems that the .CSS files aren't sent, which screws up formatting.
Sometimes it just doesn't display the thread and the little logo on the tab in FireFox is the consumerreview letter C and a little circle.
Sometimes the thread is totally blank, but with the PR mini logo, and refresh a few times works.
99% of the time, it works fine :)
