Did you try just uploading a new one? That should do it. I haven't tried to change mine, so I'm not sure if it's done a different way. Let me know what you tried so I have a little more background.

Hi Nat. I offered to John to help with any problems members might have navagating in the new forums.

My main moderating is at Computing and Video Game Review, but I'm always here checking out all the wonderful pics you guys post.

I'm here to lend a hand if I can to get you used to the new forums. Regarding changing your picture, you mentioned your Profile pic. That would be different than your Avatar, which as of now, you don't have a profile picture uploaded. Is it your avatar that you want to change? If so, it would be done as John said.

Go to your control panel, click on edit Avatar. If you would like to replace your avatar, make sure you click on the "use custom avatar" circle. Then click on browse and upload your image. The file size, which I am not sure what John has it set at, is limited. The one I have on VGR is, I believe, 70x80 pixels using photoshop. The one you have right now is 80x80. Once you have it uploaded be sure to click on save changes.

I hope this helps and that you don't mind me visiting with you guys to lend a hand

    It's the profile pic

I can't seem to change it...

    http://forums.photographyreview.com/member.php?u=163527

    this is what appears---a B/W

I'm trying to change it. And I followed the steps correctly...

the picture I want is posted as if it's up as the profile pic but when you go to the member link (ex: I see my name and I click on it and it gives you the person's profile the pic on the upper right corner is not it)

    Any help is welcome Thanks

    Direct Link

Can you tell how to direct link an image from another site? I see how to attach a file, but not link. Maybe the natabeach's problem is related to direct linking?????

    Hi Nat,

When you attempt to upload a profile pic do you get any error message? I just checked in admin and see no profile picture at all.
When successful, you will see a profile pic to the right of your Profile page. Like this...

I would be happy to post it for you if it becomes a hassle.

    Under User Options:
Miscellaneous Options, be sure you are in Enhanced Interface or Standard Editor. You will then have options in the "reply" box. One is insert image. I just took one of Nat's and used the Enhanced mode to add the direct link.

Please let me know if this is or isn't what you are looking to do and if I have made it clear for you.

    Hang in there Natalie

John and I found that only the person creating the profile picture can see it. I created one of my own and John could not see it, but I could.
It seems this feature got lost in the upgrade of VBulletin. So for now, the profile picture feature will be temporarily disabled.

Once it is fixed, I suggest choosing no profile picture, saving changes, going back and uploading your new profile picture.

John or I will let you know when the engineers are able to figure out the problem.

    Nat-
Ok, there might be more than one problem and some misunderstanding here. However, Lara and I did determine that there was a problem with displaying the Profile Picture to people other than the person who owns the Profile Picture. So Lara could see hers and I couldn't. One of the engineers found a setting and everyone whould be able to upload and see each other's Profile Pictures now.

    But...

From your description, Nat, you're having an upload problem. Lara is thinking that maybe you're trying to upload something that's too large. The spec on the Profile picture is 100x100 pixels and no larger than 65k. See if your image fits that description.

but what you describing is exactly what was happening...i just can't tell what others see....for now it says my ability to upload and change the profile is disabled...so I will deal with it later :]

    Nope Natalie, your no weenie

John and the engineers determined it was a setting. The Profile option was temporarily disabled, but is turned back on. So try posting your profile picture again. Let us know how it goes. Once you have it uploaded, I can check to see if it is visible. So can everyone else!
