Problems all day!

Everytime I've tried to get into PR today I've had a problem. I have to refresh 4-5 times and wait a few minutes every time. This is the first time I've been patient enough to wait - after about a dozen or more times trying to load the page.

I know. I'm really sorry. I was out all day and have been working on it ever since I got home. I'm really not sure what it is but I've started pulling some code from the forums in an attempt to make them work better. Unfortunately, I think there's more than one problem and one of them I have no control over at the moment. I'm working on getting some help, though.

I had the same problems as well. The site always seems to take a hit during the Tour de France.

I had the problem this morning

it worked for me with javascript disabled,
in firefox click tools/options
unselect javascript
click ok

at this time 22 pm Central it is working fine

I've been having the problem of having to reload most of the posts which has been getting worse for a couple of months. Whatever you removed has fixed this also.

Only current problem is that the 'report' screen for spam reporting doesn't go away. I don't know if the report actually gets through or not.

Last night I removed all the ad code in the right-hand column. There was some old code pointing to a server we no longer use. I think that was the culprit yesterday and it needed to be cleaned up, anyway. But there's no ad now and I need get that fixed. It's good to discover that removing all that code appears to have seriously improved performance.

Thanks, Terry. I'm not sure what you mean by the "report screen." The spam report link opens a new page for me. Does it do something different for you? Can you make me a screen shot to show me what you mean?

I hit the '! in a triangle' and it goes to a 'report screen'. I type in a message (i.e. "Spam") and hit Send Report. It used to go back to the spam post. Now it just stays on the 'report screen' with nothing to acknowledge that the report was sent. - TF

I have the same issue with reporting a post.
I clicked on the "Send Report" button and got the spinning bagel of death up in the tab in the browser.
If you're not using FF or IE8 you might know that it's sent the request and waiting for a response.

Edit: just got the spam email report a few seconds ago.
So reporting and emailing the admins works.

But the screen that thanks you for reporting it, and returns to the thread, does not.
