    Hang Up
This is my first post here, so please forgive me if this has already been addressed, but my patience was wearing quite thin while trying to see if it was.

Has anyone experienced pages that load extremely slow or pages that hang up and require refreshing to get them to load? It seems that almost every page I visit requires me to refresh my browser just to get it to load, and then over half of those pages load real slow. If it helps, I'm on DSL and even when I was on dial-up I never encountered pages in any type of forum that would take this long to load. Please tell me there is a way to speed things up and stop them from hanging? I would love for nothing more than to be able to participate here, but I can't do that when it takes me forever to open just one page.

    Pop-Ups?
    Lyra-
Thanks for letting me know about the problem. Can you tell me what browser and Internet provider you're using? Are you running a pop-up blocker? Are you seeing any pop-ups? My guess is that your 're having a conflict with the pop-ups on our site. That's not good for either of us. If you're using pop-up blocker software, try updating it and see if that improves things. If you're not using pop-up bloacker software, try installing some and see if blocking the pop-ups helps. If you don't think it has anything to do with pop-ups or you have any other ideas, please let me know. I want to help. If you're having trouble I'm sure other people are, too. I'm not experiencing the problems you've described, though.

Thanks for using PhotographyREVIEW.com and PCPhotoREVIEW.com and thanks for letting me know you're having trouble.

John, I can say that I have experienced slow page loads and also the hanging. I use a pop up blocker.

Right now I'm getting the "server too busy try later" message. Totally unrelated.

    No ideas, yet
This is very hard to isolate. I'm not having any problems. Paul described a similar problem a month ago. I'll have to talk to the super geeks about this. I'm wondering if it could be a regional thing or an Internet provider code conflict. I know AOL is running their own pop-up blocker, so that's why I mentioned Internet providers and pop-up blockers.. That doesn't make sense, but I can't think of anything else.

Are the pages loading at all or do you just get the error? If they're loading, do they hang up at a certain section of the page?

Thanks for hanging in their and helping me figure this out.

    Similar experience
    PJ,
I've been having similar problems the last few weeks. I'm using the "block pop ups" option. It doesn't happen all the time, and it's basically threads with more images posted that take a long time. It takes up to 5 minutes for some longer threads. It happens frequently enough to make me not try to open those threads, but I miss seeing the photos. Actually I thought it was because I still have dial up. Not by choice. :(

    Just for your info.

I'm on Broadband, so it's not just AOL John. Regional is a possiblility. All three of us are on the east coast.

I am not getting errors at all. Only page hanging with just the header and the banner ad loading. Hitting refresh sometimes pops the page in. I have tried turning off pop up blocker when this happens. It doesn't make a difference.
On another note, even if I access on VPN, the same thing is happening.

    All of this is intermittant.

It's not regional I get it here as well and I'm not even in the same Hemisphere.

I think it is a server issue myself and the vBulletin Software. The marking all posts as read after reading one post for the day is really frustrating me. Marked just about all forums and posts as read after reading one post in Viewfinder this morning about 15 mins ago.

Photo-John thanks for looking into this! I'm using IE 6.02 and Earthlink/Sprint is my ISP, and I do use a pop-up blocker. For me it doesn't just happen with long posts or posts with lots of photos, it happens on the main forum page with the list of forums and individual forums, it happens when I try to edit my profile, and it happens when I try to post.

    What part of the page?
    Lyra-
Does it hang up at a certain part of the page? It could be a conflict with ad code. From Lara's description, that's what it sounds like to me. The frustrating thing is that it never happens to me, and I'm using three different computers.

    Slow here tooo
Going from the home page to the main dicussions page is so slow that I book marked the main dicussions page instead.

I am at work, so I am on a T1 line. although at home, on dial up, it seems to load a bit faster.. Earthlink/Mindspring is my ISP at home too...

For me it loads the Search engine fine along with the forum_leftside.gif and the links in the gray bar, but it appears to get hung up when it tries to load the top ad banner. Once that's loaded it only takes seconds for the rest to load.
