    Forums Upgrade Feedback
    We upgraded our forums software last night. We tested it after the changes were made, but there may be some stylistic changes or problems that we've missed. If you encounter any problems, please post them here. We'll be addressing any problems that come up, as quickly as possible.

    Thanks!

    I had to log in the first time too but am remembered now. Did you mark the "Remember me " box by the login?

    Looks like there is still an issue with posting times. This answer was originally posted with a time earlier than Ken's post that it was answerring.

    Hi Chunk and John et al...found the problem...

    When switching to different pages, it doesn't remember your login. After logging in to the respective pages and checking "Remember Me"...it will then remember you.

    Example: I logged in to the home page where I had checked "Remember Me"...and it did remember me...but when I went to Forums...It didn't remember me. So I logged in to Forums. Shut down and checked and it remembered me on the home page and forums...then I went to Photo Gallery...and it didn't remember me. That is as far as I have gone.

    Is this the way you want it or is it a scripting problem??

    Thanks!

    The QuickReply link is not working for me.
    It doesn't DO anything and doesn't jump to the QuickReply box at the bottom as I expected.

    Also in the Advanced editor NONE of the buttons work.
    No smilies, no formatting, the only things that work are the Post Icons, the text window (obviously as I type this) and the Submit/preview buttons.

    I am using FireFox ... Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060111 Firefox/1.5.0.1

    I think it might be a local JavaScript issue - but it eas all working perfectly before the upgrade :(

    Oh and also the system must expect a different cookie, because it had no idea who I am.
    Under the previous software I told it to remember me, and the updated version didn't recognise me.
    I have logged in and told it to remember me - and it now seems to know I'm SmartWombat again...

    I miss the forum jump dropdown list at the top.
    Having it at the bottom it's a pain scrolling down to it.

    Testing the QuickReply box....

    It works for me with FireFox!

    Sure I can use the box, but I don't have to press the quick-reply button to do it !!
    Also the quick-reply button does not move foxus to the text input section.

    I tried in IE too, and all the formatting buttons STILL don't work in IE.
    There's no rollover action and I can't click on them in IE or in FireFox.

    It's broke the same in both browsers, it seems.

    Ah, this time in IE the QuickReply button worked (and the icon is changed).
    I don't get the "Done with errors" message I was about to report.

    And when I roll-over the formatting buttons, they highlight.
    And more important they work.

    Ignore the image, I was just testing that upload works.

    Well done John (and your back-room crew).

    I got lots of errors in the Java console when using FoxFire.

    Error: vB_Editor is not defined
    Source File: http://forums.photographyreview.com/...in_textedit.js
    Line: 2889

    Rather ironic if I read the comments in the code !!

    /**
    * Save editor contents to textarea so if we hit back / forward its not lost
    * Only appears to work with Firefox at the moment
    */
    function save_iframe_to_textarea()
    {
    for (var editorid in vB_Editor)

    But they are all fixed now, it seems.
    Well done !

    Can't Take Credit
    All I do is whine to the developers. They've been watching this thread and probably cursing at my e-mails. Anyway, they're the ones that broke it and fixed it.

    Working on the font size. I can't figure out which style changes which font. I'm not even sure it actually changed. But it does seem small.

    At least the main banner with the tabs is displaying correctly again. This is size two text to the left.

    I think the text size should be set at SIZE=2 have a look in the CSS file PJ might be in there.

    Hmm... I never had a drop down box at the top of my screen. But now that you mention it, that would be a VERY GOOD feature to have!

    Thanks Photo John and developers!

    I just enlarged the font-size ... well, actually, the reviews style sheet was overwriting the forums style sheet. :eek: Which is why the changes you made earlier in the admin panel didn't take. You can play with the css all you like now ... and you'll see the changes.

    :D

    The font now is very bland looking and the size I think, it is hard to tell, to me too big, needs to be next size down, I don't know what size you have set it to. I think it is now at size 3. What is the default font as well. Is it Courier. Wasn't it Helvetica on the previous forum setup.

    I may just be over looking it, but I can't find a quick easy wasy to get to My Gallery on the Photo Gallery page. There use to be a My Gallery at the top that you could click on. What am I missing? How do I get to My Gallery?

    Cookies
    The cookies system was changed a little so the system is having trouble remembering who you are when you go from section to section. I think it's better than it was yesterday. But I'm not sure it's back to the seamless system we had before the upgrade. But I know it's being worked on.

    Looks good to me! It took a few minutes to get used to all the different emoticons & the more colorful layout, but I think its a great improvement. The only thing I see missing is when you're replying to a message, in the Post Icons box there isn't a thumbs up, only thumbs down.
