    Back in the Sirup Grove

Season's just about over for the sap to run, its been in the 60's here, so I stopped to get one more session in before the buckets come down. How do you like this one?

    Hello DRG
This does not work too well with me.
I loved your more close up ones of the buckets from past posts The broken tree interferes too much also and the buckets are a bit too far away. I wonder if there is a close up shot of the broken tree at the point of breakage?

I haven't seen your other's in the series so I can't compare to them. I really like the texture and colors, but something about the framing bothers me. I think that it's too perfectly framed: the main subject (which I assume are buckets) are smack in the middle of the picture with broken log and fallen log making almost a perfect rectangle. Maybe a little more asymetry would have helped, IMHO. Now I'm going to look at the other pics you posted - interesting subject matter!

haven't seen the other photos, but the subject matter is to far away in this photo and is kinda lost. The tree provides a very interesting frame for the buckets, but as 2k2s stated you have placed the buckets smack dab in the middle.
I missed your other pictures and have to go look at those because this is a great subject.
    Cheers.

Re: Back in the Sirup Grove

Thanks for all the comments. I've got another one or two to post in this theme. The buckets were starting to come down today (20.03.05) as the sap doesn't have enough sugar content now to make it worth collecting.

I believe I was rather indecisive regarding about the subject being buckets or the broken tree.

    Hello CDP,

Frankly, I enjoy this. I don't mind the buckets being small as I see them as an integral part of a scene rather than the subject itself. Also, I can't remember having ever seen a broken tree in such a scene. It takes this picture appart from usual "romantic" spring scenes. What I don't like here however is to have the tree with the buckets dead center. I would like to have more room at the right of the frame.
