    Re: Havana Nights

Another interesting shot here Liban. Two things that could be improved on in this pic is in on the ship, the green light, is a little hot, and in the very centre of the pic, just to the right of the other boat, is a yellow/glowing area. Also, the clouds, if they could be defined some how, would add a great touch and composition to this photo. Love the reflection of the lights on the water too!

Great shooting, always a pleasure to view your photos,

    Jared

    Re: Havana Nights

Liban, i like your composition and it is a pretty picture. i think the sky being as blue as the water is losing the dimension here that woulkd bring this image up a notch or two. had you taken this a bit earlier, while there might have been a little more light in the sky or some colors, would have helped alot.

    It's So Blue!

The one thing I like most about your photograph is the monochromatic quality, which is a good thing.
The blue is strong but not strong enough so that the details show through.
    Good composition too!
    Thanks for sharring!

    Re: Havana Nights

Here's another shot facing a different direction where the sky isn't as blue as the water or where there was more light. This shot is taken to the right of the original.

    Hi Liban

This is a beautiful shot ! The reflections of the lights on the water is great .
I have been trying a few night shots , but without any success ! Would you mind if i ask what aperture opening and shutter speed you have been using ?

    Hi James,
Sorry I haven't got the slightest clue what my exact settings were. Is there a way I can look at the original image and find out what they were?

    Hi Liban

If you have photoshop , you click on file , file info , in the section you select EXIF , and it will display all the information of the original photo .

If you have Painshop pro ( 8 )
Click on image , image information , select EXIF information .

    Hope this will help !

    Regards

    Re: Havana Nights

I really like the second photo you posted. There are more interesting things going on.
You have the lights on the water going vertical and they almost look as if they are holding up the buildings. In the sky you have a larger range of value that makes it look as if the clouds are carrying the evening in. I think that picture shows a lot more of what is going on while still keeping the same peaceful mood.
    Good job….
