    Who's still here?

    Boo!
    Hi guys,
I'm still here, well, I pop back from time to time so I wondered who's still here?
What's happened to the project forum? It seems a shame it's not had a challenge since May.
Do you need some help with it? I'd like to offer my time up, to run it again. In fact, I would love to be project mod again
    Love and hugs ... Ali

Allison, unless things have changed very recently, PR is now just a rudderless ship. A few of the old (figuratively) stalwarts still are regulars here, and a number of us just check in from time to time. As far as I can tell, no one is in charge since PhotoJohn left the scene.

I pop in from time-to-time but then get pulled away before I post. But I've been out shooting like a mad-man, mostly B&W film, and lots of 4x5 work.

Event got a new-to-me camera, a late 60s Pacemaker Crown Graphic to replace my beatup Speed Graphic.

    Re: Who's still here?

I'm still here and check in from time to time, but the site certainly isn't what it used to be. PJ is indeed gone, and if you look at the home page you'll see that all the reviews are about 6+ months old: not a good sign. There was little to no tech support for the site leading up to his departure, so it appears that the owners (who operate a slew of these "Review" sites) don't have the resources to assign it.

Maybe things can still recover? We'll see.

OMG what has happened to this site!!!

Sorry to be away - it's been a couple years I think (even had to look up my password lol!). But you know how it goes, life keeps getting in the way. Haven't been shooting for a long time but trying to get back into it. Thinking about it doesn't count does it? LOL.

Will try to be a regular again but, honestly, I can't even remember how to upload photos here.

Nothing lasts forever and this site has just gone the same way as all of the discussion forums - it's been replaced by other concepts.

    - Probably Facebook has drained off a lot of the younger audience
    - I like TUMBLR for the continual stream of unexpected images

Charles - Keen insight. The site's been neglected and I'm sure some left due to that, but still, the kind of dropoff it's had is hard to explain based on that alone. More and more folks are posting on Facebook, which has gradually improved it's image (and video) presentation. Still, it's so mainstream that I'd feel weird providing any in-depth image comments there -- people would think you're an extreme geek or a nut.

    Re: Who's still here?

I randomly check in. If PJ left I don't get why people still don't post. I don't even "get" who owns the site.

Facebook is not the place I want to talk photography. I detest how things show up in other peoples feed that I don't want them seeing.

This place is where it all started for me so it's hard to let it go.
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

    Re: Who's still here?

Hello all it's been a month or so since I checked in. The project forum was hard because being to busy to get out and shoot. I haven't been shooting as seriously as of late. i do have some ideas for some shoots.
I do need some motivation to get out and shot.

The reason I, and several others, took a long hiatus from this site was because of the inordinate amount of spam posting that was so rampant for so long. It seemed like Jeff (Grandpa) was the only one seriously trying to clean things up, but he was up against overwhelming forces. I simply didn't have the patience of the stalwarts who persisted. During the same timeframe, it seemed that site ownership/mgt just let things fall into a general state of disrepair. So I suppose "death by neglect" might be on the printed on the certificate!

    Re: Who's still here?

The term " flogging a dead horse" has come to mind here, which is really tragic, as this site gave me so much inspiration and guidance when I started my journey into digital photography back in 2009. To see this site so deminished and the absence of the wonderful mentors has been a bitter pill to swallow, I have no idea what the future holds but it doesn't bode well.

    Re: Who's still here?

I have a lot of photo forums bookmarked and try to make the rounds whenever I have a moment (as I am doing now).

If this site is dying, what alternatives might one suggest? What is your favorite forum?
