Brand New Medium Format Folding Camera

Normally I don't pay much attention to the stuff that the Lomography people put out. However, their new Belair X 6x12 camera is pretty cool - and pretty bold:

The Lomography Belair X – An Affordable Medium Format Film Camera | Camera News & Reviews

It looks like their initial production run was pretty small but it I understand correctly, it sold out in pre-order right away. So maybe this will be a successful camera for them. I definitely like the idea of a big medium format camera that doesn't cost a fortune. Maybe they've found a sweet spot in the market. Anyone here interested in this? Anyone thinking of getting one? Is there anyone here?

Maybe I ought to try shooting motorsport with one
What is the lens mount, can you get other lenses for it?

There are two lenses - a 90mm wide-angle and a 58mm super-wide. It's a proprietary mount so you can only use their lenses. They do have more lenses in the works, though.

It does look cool. I got out of MF due to the cost of processing.

Gotta do B&W and do your own processing. I was never satisfied with lab processing - even really good labs where I could have them custom develop my film for me. I'm only happy when I do it myself.

This makes me yearn to get back into film photography. The only problem is I would have to buy all new darkroom equipment!!!!!

Yeah John but just keeping chemicals around has gotten costly but I agree and I do all B&W in house.
But if you need darkroom equipment check Craigslist there are some real bargains out there. People will almost give you stuff to get it out of their way.

I was going to buy one of these, however then I had to replace my car so the Belair is going to have to wait.

And yes, do your own b&w processing, it's really easy, fun, and satisfying especally when you get to choose the chemistry you want to get the look you want
