    Pointer 2

Here's another variation on the theme I posted earlier. I was looking to include just the triangular tip of the kayak to give some compositional balance and foreground interest to the frame. I though of the kayak as a cursor on a computer's landscape wallpaper.

The problem with both of these shots is there isn't enough of the kayak showing to become and important element of the image, it more looks like it got in the picture by error.

Thank you. It's ironic that most of my shots are sports, candids, or animals. It is rare that I plan a landscape, but I did wit this one. The placement of the kayak and how much is showing was exactly what I wanted. It is helpful to know that it doesn't work for everyone (or possibly anyone...)

By the way, I've noticed that you are active on the critique board. Have you thought of posting some of your own work for critique?

The landscape here is really nice, great colors, beautiful calm water

I agree the kayak doesn't fit with the rest of the image,

you could have tilted your camera down a bit, and still include the top of the palm tree , plus show more of the kayak

Thank you. It's 2 against and 0 for, so I am beginning to think this wouldn't be a hit with the rest of the world.

I agree about having more canoe. Right now it's borderline. For such a strong element, I think you either really include in the photo or leave it out complete. Right now it's hanging in the middle which makes it look like an afterthought. Other than that, I like the scene. It's a bit simple, but the light is nice and golden. Good time to go out and shoot again.
