    body on the beach

I tried several angles, zooms, portrait, landscape, and ended up with this.
My home critic likes it, so with the Mrs Wombat seal of approval ...

Without seeing the out takes I would say yes this is the one. I have no issues with the composition the guy does look oddly sunken slightly in the rocks.

Very good. I would image this looking great as a contrasty b/w.

Wondering if the top of the bridge should be cropped out. I kind of wish it were square with the horizon.

I think Mrs. Wombat is right, though I like #4 as well. Has a very "Law & Order, UK" feel to me.

Did you plan this out? The hat seems essential.

    No planning.
He walked down the beach, rolled a cigarette and sat there for a while, then laid back and went to sleep.
My feet crunching on the gravel as I walked around didn't wake him

I think he needed a little card in his hand saying "I ain't dead"

A little unusual for my taste. I like #2 more than the rest.

    Re: body on the beach

Based on the first picture you posted, for this type of conceptual shot, I think it would look stronger if you change it to a wider angle..

I mean get the subject closer to the camera (or further away from the jetty), so that your framing captures a wider overall angle at every corners.
This picture looks abit too cramped.
I would like to see the man smaller, and be able to see more of the overall scene, more of the sandy beach, more of the jetty.

I was relieved to find that this was not the work of a forensic photographer.

Yes, he's in one of the grooves left by the fishing boats pulled up on the beach.
You can see that clearer in the outtakes.
Sadly not able to get a viewpoint so make it look like he was pulled up in the catch.

I like the idea of this ...it is interesting and engaging. The color may be a little washed out ...but otherwise I like the comp.

    and

I like the last one , odd crop, but nice detail on the focus plane with nice OOF pebbles going up in diagonal

    Re: body on the beach

I was trying that "odd crop" composition in camera as an experiment.
Took lots of shots trying different positions because I couldn't decide on the spot what was going to work.
