    Montlake cut

Been going through old photos as I haven't had much time to shoot lately.
Found this one that's almost 4 yrs old.
Very little editing..bumped saturation to +5 and added a bit of contrast and vibrance to raw.
    Just sharpened in jpeg.
Is it interesting enought to look at?

    Re: Montlake cut

What a weird sign. Is it a sign for a near by restaurant?

I don't think it's boring at all, just unconventional composition. With a bit of most elements included (bit of the bridge, bit of the water, bit of the forest) and the entire sign which was obviously the subject here.

As for critiquing this, I think it's a bit flat. The only thing that saves it from total flatness is the bit of the bridge that arches towards the viewer. That gives it a bit of depth. I think including more of the bridge as a leading line towards the sign and giving the viewer a path in to the photo might have helped.

    Thank you, Leels.
I agree that it does seem a bit flat.

I had no idea what Green Eggs and Slam meant. Just thought it was some weird cult thing in Seattle.
    This was in 2008.
When you asked, I decided to google it, just to find out. Its tha name of music group. Took almost 4 years for me to find that out...lol

Hey Frog, not bad and a worthy subject and surroundings. I like the original version posted as far as shadow detail adjustment goes. I think you over did it in the last version.
I too notice some web galleries seem to present images a little differently. Also, when viewing images on a bright white background such as here it causes the eye to lose the shadow details whereas if your viewing this same image on a darker background the detail seems to show up stronger.

My main critique here would be that the bridge is almost cutting the image in half, which bugs me. I'd suggest cropping from the left halfway into the bridge and then maybe a bit up from the bottom.
I think a conversion to b&w might be interesting.

Good to see you again, Frog.

    Good ideas, Gary.

Not sure about the b/w but I can see advantages. Maybe I should try b/w on all but the sign but right now its too late to get that involved.
I also did a bit of sloppy cloning in top right but will be more careful if I decide to keep.

I like the color version as well as the B&W. Maybe crop the color version the same as the B&W. A little off of the right and bottom. Nice shot Frog and well seen.

There is too much water and bridge in the first pictures, it "steals" the shot. The one without color looks much better.
