    Gulls

    Hi all

One of the busiest Christmasses I've ever had .. no chance at all to take any pictures or do much of anything except work.

Now that life is quieter, the weather is foul! You can't win!

Anyway, seeing as how the gale was blowing outside, I did this this afternoon from some old files I had.

    Just for fun.

    Cheers
    Mike

    It looks photoshopped

    jk ;)

I like the idea, and you did it really well, I just dont know how good the gulls mix in with that sorta egyptian museum whatever it is environment. If you replace that with the inside of a beach shack this image would be awesome

Mike that's some good work. I don't know how to improve it, looks good to me.

    Re: Gulls

Because of the position and colour of the sun I think the gulls need to have a golden hue. If you can work out how to achieve that then could you let me know as it would be handy for something I'm working on.
The two spot lights need to go, and I'm not sure how to go about fixing it, but where the water meets the statues doesn't look quite right.
Isn't this sort of thing so much fun to do Mike, cool idea.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

    Re: Gulls

Thanks guys for your helpful suggestions.

hminx - I have given the whole image a slight golden hue with a warming filter. Not a lot - I didn't want to overdo it. I have also removed the spots (they bothered me too). I have also applied a ripple effect where the statues meet the water.

JoshD - beach huts are in short supply in this corner of England The statues and door are actually the entrance to the Assyrian section of the British Museum. The sunset was taken on the Volga last summer. And the gulls were from Croatia. I am nothing if not international

    Greg - thankee kindly.

Anyway .. here is a newer version with some clouds added. The clouds also have the happy effect of mainly disguising the slightly awkward join between statues and water.

    Cheers

Well this is a lot of fun Mike! Certainly different and I'm intrigued by the different layers. The cutout work is good ~ I would suggest a layer to tie the lighting altogether so that its more simpatico with the overall scene. Certainly better than freezing your nose off outside!
