    So Cal Winery

Okay, so this is from my first shoot. I am looking for ways to improve. Let me know what you think.

This looks a little soft, needs a bit of sharpening The vignette looks a bit out of place here, makes the sky a bit odd.

Isn't it a cool thing in nature that the colours never seem to clash...

The composition doesn't work for me. The eye is led straight down the path and out of the picture. I would have ignored the path or the buildings depending on what your concept was. If it was the buildings then a different view point, if its the hills at the end of the path then I would have the path moving diagonally from left to right (to the middle of the picture at least) or right to left depending on what is there to look at.

The buildings are leaning away from the viewer so that doesn't help the picture either so needs a little lens correction to help it along.

The vignetting doesn't work either because some of the clouds are blown out and others are so dark.

Just my views of course but as it is it doesn't work for me.

I think this is not too bad, but yes there are some problems with it some of which were pointed out already.

I agree the path tends to lead us out of the picture here, although if the cloud formation was flipped in that it swooped in from the left frame and up into the picture instead of vice versa as it is now it might have helped lead the eye back into the scene. As it is now, the path, the clouds and the open space in the sky brings us out of the scene, although a very beautiful scene with nice light.
The heavy vignette is bitter sweet here. It does help to keep our eye inside and the lighting on the vines in the middle of the picture helps in that regard as well but at the same time its so heavy that its doing wrong things to the sky and clouds and also making the vines in the right front foreground area very dark and murky.
I think for me the biggest issue compositionally is I would like to see more space on the side of the house as opposed to having it sit right up against the edge of the frame.
Pretty nice image all in all with beautiful colors and very good light. Excellent really for a first shoot.
Looking forward to more from you.

So I removed the vignettes and "tried" to sharpen it. I am still struggling with that, not sure when to stop and really how to do it well.

I am also posting another shot I took without the path that leads you out of the frame. It also moves the building more into the center and way from the edge. I just wasn't sure if the second building was distracting or not.

I'm not quite sure how to correct the building "leaning away" any suggestions?

Not sure if I can do anything about the clouds. Again, seems a little more advanced photoshop then my level

Thanks for your comments and let me know how these are
