    Thanks for the comments guys - Eric the lens and camera are brand new (this was their first excursion) and I have to say it has been well worth the investment (US$16000 for the full monty) - I love the speed and accuracy which now puts me in a position to get some decent BIF shots. I moved to Nikon from Sony because of the paucity of quality long lenses available her in RSA in the latter stable and it appears, from a nature / wildlife perspective, that the right decision has been made! I am truly impressed by the high iso capability of the D700 without any discernible noise - all that speed to play with has been a revelation!!
